Indiana basketball legend Quinn Buckner is in the hall June 28 — but it won’t be the hall you expect. The captain of the 1976 NCAA championship team will instead tread the boards at the Musical Arts Center as a special guest of the Summer Philharmonic.

Buckner is stepping up as narrator of Frank Proto’s  musical number “Casey at the Bat.”

Buckner isn’t the only fan favorite planned for the night.

Conductor David Effron will lead the philharmonic through a program that includes Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony, a little Duke Ellington, and Tchaikovsky’s booming 1812 Overture, complete with a light show.

Other featured artists for the 8 p.m. concert include mezzo-soprano Marietta Simpson and trumpeters Edmund Cord, Leah Hodge and Evan King. For details and ticket information, see The Jacobs School of Music.
